Scholastic Scholarships
A HERO FOR DAISY
In an effort to make rowing affordable, high school women are encouraged to apply for the current scholarship funds available. An applicant will be chosen by the Board of Directors to receive the Scholarship. This scholarship will waive the CRF assessment fee due for one season (an estimated value of $115.00). Other fees due to the rower's member organization must be paid directly to the organization. Applicants must be a high school female between the age of 13 and 18.
This scholarship was created by a donation from Chris Ernst who came to speak at CSU at a forum exploring title IX.
The film "A Hero for Daisy" recounts the rowing career of Chris Ernst, Yale oarswoman, two-time Olympian, world champion and plumber who is perhaps best known for leading the first highly-visible demonstration for equal athletic facilities for women, calling on the federal mandate known as "Title IX." Director of Development Sarah Ott-Hansen and Dianne Schubeck, both Cleveland natives and rowers, were coached by Chris Ernst in college.
Application Deadlines:
February 1st for the spring season with awards March 1st AND September 1st for the fall season with awards September 7th.
