Driving Directions
NOTE: Two popular driving routes to the Boathouse are now
closed. Eagle Avenue is no longer operational, and Canal Road
is shut for bridge repair as of 2005. MapQuest, Yahoo Maps
or Google Maps may not yet reflect these closures.
1. From Ohio City: Take Columbus Road (near
the West Side Market) down the hill towards downtown. At the
bottom of the hill, Major Hoopples bar will be on your left
and new condominiums on your right. Turn right onto a dusty
unmarked road. You will be following the riverbank. A quarter
of a mile down the road, our boathouse will be on your left
at 1948 Carter Road.
2. From Downtown: Take St. Clair or Superior
west to the Warehouse District. Drive down the hill after
West Ninth Street, you’ll be on Robert Lockwood Jr.
Drive. Turn left (south). Cross the RTA railroad track; at
the stop sign, make a small dogleg to the left and drive ACROSS
the blue Carter Road Bridge. Turn right at the stop sign,
we will be on your right at 1948 Carter Road.
3. From Tremont: Drive West, cross W. 14th
Street until you reach Scranton. Turn right (north) on Scranton;
continue down the hill past warehouses and a marina. At the
light you’ll see a Firehouse; turn left (west) and a
closed Eagle Avenue Bridge would be on your right. Continue
West, pass the blue Carter Road Bridge and we will be on your
right at 1948 Carter Road.
4. From I-71: Heading North, take the W.
25th Street exit. Turn left (north) and immediately get in
the far right lane - Scranton Road veers off from W. 25th.
Take Scranton – you’ll be driving north, and will
pass Metro Hospital and Clark Avenue. Continue north, pass
an elementary school, and 3 lights. Continue down the hill
past warehouses and a marina. At the last light you’ll
see a Firehouse; turn left (west) and a closed Eagle Avenue
Bridge would be on your right. Continue West, pass the blue
Carter Road Bridge and we will be on your right at 1948 Carter
Road.
5. From the East/I-90: Head West on I-90,
take the W. Third exit. Turn left at the top of the ramp and
head south on W. Third. At the second light, turn right on
St. Clair. Drive west on St. Clair for 2 blocks/2 lights,
and after W. Ninth Street, St. Clair takes a steep drop down
a hill. At the bottom of the hill, turn left on Robert Lockwood
Jr. Drive. Cross the RTA railroad track; at the stop sign,
make a small dogleg to the left and drive ACROSS the blue
Carter Road Bridge. Turn right at the stop sign, we will be
on your right at 1948 Carter Road.
