What Rowing Means to Me...
A few CRF high school students were recently asked what rowing means to them. Here is one response:
For me rowing means that I can do something. I never played any sport before crew and never thought I could. When I was 12 years old I was hit by a car while riding my bike. Nobody ever thought I would be able to be active again, having sustained a major hip injury that gave me some physical limitations. The idea of rowing, especially at the start, was a dream. When I started to row I realized that I could be active. Crew and Rowing changed my life. Suddenly I was active, healthy and really happy. Rowing means that the hip injury I had when I was 12 wasn't going to run my life, that I could keep up with other people on the team, and play a sport. Rowing means freedom, and so much more that I don't know how to put into words, rowing means the world to me.
