DRAGON BOATING
Seize the River, Paddle on a Dragon Boat!
The Cleveland Dragon Boat Association (CDBA) provides open paddling sessions at Rivergate Park, the first and only park with public access to the Cuyahoga River.
Sessions take place on Sunday afternoons throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. The time for sessions may vary from 1:00 to 3:00pm, but typically will be at 3:00pm.
Your first paddling experience is FREE. No experience is required and all needed coaching and equipment is provided (life vest and paddle).
After you have experienced the thrill of dragon boat paddling and wish to come back for more, sessions are only $5 per person. It is important that you reserve your seat no later than Friday each week as space on the boats is limited.
You are also welcome to form a team, or join an existing team that competes in the annual Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival held in mid-September
We paddle in rain, but never if lighting or thunder is present or threatening. If possible, arrive roughly 30 minutes prior to the scheduled session for brief warm-up/stretching and paddling instruction.
As a 100% volunteer effort (no CDBA member receives any payment for their efforts), CDBA seeks your support in soliciting financial and in-kind contributions to sustain our effort to provide a viable dragon boat presence and active recreation opportunity at Rivergate Park in the Flats. If you know of, or are employed by a potential organization or corporation that would be willing to sponsor a team orour annual festival, please let us know.
