Temporary Boathouse Closure

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

Dear Cleveland Rowing Foundation Member Organizations and Rowing Community,

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers, rowing community and guests is our number one priority, and it is in this spirit that we share this message.

States of emergency have been declared for the State of Ohio, and indeed the nation as a whole, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Multiple confirmed cases have been identified in Ohio, including Northeast Ohio. Multiple venues/facilities have been at least temporarily closed in the interests of public health and mitigating the spread of this virus. Schools and colleges across Ohio are closed, and multiple local, regional and national sporting events have been cancelled or postponed. CRF has been in contact with other rowing organizations, many of whom (including Three Rivers Rowing Association in Pittsburgh and Community Rowing, Inc. in Boston) have closed their boathouses.

CRF has accordingly decided to close the Boathouse to all individuals and programs until at least Monday, April 6th.  During this interval all planned activities (e.g., erging sessions, maintenance days, and meetings) are cancelled, with NO access to the Boathouse permitted.

CRF is taking every precaution possible to protect our staff, volunteers, rowers and guests. Therefore, during this closure, CRF will perform a deep clean of the entire facility, including ergs, locker and shower facility, bays, and high traffic areas throughout the boathouse.

CRF will continue to evaluate this evolving situation and update all member organizations and the rowing community of any future decisions, including rationale and timing of prolonging or ending the Boathouse closure.

Kind regards,

Kirk Lang

CRF Executive Director
