Fuel the Future of Rowing in Cleveland

This Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting our community to Fuel the Future of Rowing in Cleveland. Every gift directly supports CRF’s mission to expand access, strengthen safety, and provide opportunities for rowers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Your support helps us:

  • Maintain and enhance our shared riverfront facility

  • Invest in equipment and safety resources

  • Expand programming and partnerships that welcome more people to the sport

Whether you're an athlete, alum, parent, volunteer, or fan of river recreation, your contribution keeps our momentum strong.

WELCOME NORTHEAST OHIO PARA ROWING SOCIETY

We are thrilled to welcome the Northeast Ohio Para Rowing Society (NEOPRS) as newest member of CRF's rowing community. Formed within the Western Reserve Rowing Association structure, NEOPRS is already making an extraordinary impact.

Through a partnership with the VA Spinal Cord Injury Unit, the team is integrating rowing into medical rehabilitation for spinal cord injury patients and veterans. Participants engage in adapted rowing sessions that complement their therapy—offering physical benefits, new confidence, and a meaningful connection to the water.

NEOPRS represents the best of what community rowing can be: inclusive, innovative, and committed to ensuring that the Cuyahoga is a river for everyone.

We’re honored to support their work and look forward to watching this program grow.

CRF Represents Rowers on the Harbor Safety Committee

Beyond the boathouse, CRF continues to play a key role in strengthening safety and communication on the Cuyahoga River.

ree

This year, CRF was selected to serve on the U.S. Coast Guard Harbor Safety Committee, working alongside commercial operators, public agencies, and regional partners. We’re proud to represent the entire manually powered watercraft community — and to be the only organization at the table doing so.

Our participation helps ensure:

  • Clear communication among all river users

  • Stronger safety protocols during the busiest traffic periods

  • Advocacy for visibility and access for rowers and paddlers

  • Collaboration on initiatives that support both commercial and recreational activity

As the river continues to grow busier and more active, CRF’s voice on this committee ensures that Cleveland’s rowing community is heard, protected, and included in every conversation about the future of the Cuyahoga.

Community Rowing Returns

ree

We’re excited to welcome everyone back for Community Rowing Classes, returning every Monday this winter at the boathouse. These donation-based sessions are open to all — no experience required — and are a great way to beat the cold, get moving, and learn the basics of rowing in a fun, supportive environment. Classes start January 5th!

Whether you’re curious about the sport, looking to stay active through the winter, or hoping to connect with the rowing community, these classes are a perfect place to start. Our coaches will guide you through proper technique and low-impact conditioning while sharing more about our mission to steward and strengthen the rowing community on the Cuyahoga River.
